Kids (and a few adults), some from Palm Beach County, suddenly became ill this week while attending a camp near in Lake Placid, about an hour west of Lake Okeechobee. Some of the kids started throwing up...but the cause remains a mystery. A cleaning crew is being brought in to do some heavy duty cleaning.
I never attended Summer camp as a kid. We took trips from Philadelphia to Maine every year, so I was lucky to have a place to go with my family that was like a playground. We would swim, hike, picnic and spend the entire summer together. My dad would join us when he could get the time off work. I guess I missed out of all those great camp experiences, huh? Well, all but this one!
