Freckles is a very sweet 8 year old female Parson Russell terrier mix. She was abandoned outside Safe Harbor with two other dogs, when their owner could no longer care for them.
Freckles has such a kind spirit and loving heart, you can see she is a survivor.
What is not so obvious, is that she is a breast cancer survivor! If only her owner had her spayed as a pup, this might have been avoided.
Upon her arrival at Safe Harbor, is was discovered she had some mammary tumors. Just like with humans, she underwent a mastectomy. She was spayed at the same time. Freckles has fully recovered from her surgery, and is ready to be a loyal companion dog in a loving forever home.She loves to go for walks, wagging her tiny tail all the way. She is great with other dogs, and doesn't seem to mind cats either.
She is happy to be alive and just wants to spend the rest of her time in a loving forever home. She has had enough of shelter life. Freckles qualifies for Safe Harbor's Senior Program, which allows adopters of Safe Harbor cats and dogs over the age of seven, the opportunity to receive medical care for the pet at our hospital (other than routine visits and shots) at our cost plus ten percent. This is a program Safe harbor established to help offset the costs owners may incur with an older pet. if you are looking for a smiling, happy go lucky companion dog under twenty pounds, Freckles may be the girl for you.
